I'm Telling You, This is Fun

gemstonegames:

After the first unit, at least.  Enter Udacity, an online school dedicated to computer science.  It’s very new, and doesn’t actually offer a degree, but its got interesting material, and does a good job of mimicking a university setting, even going so far as to give you grades for homework assignments, as well as a final exam.  There are currently two courses; one that focuses on building a search engine, another that focuses on programming a robotic car.  There will be more later, they’re listed on the bottom of the home page.  I’m taking the first, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to do the second right now.  It’s entirely free, too!  You probably wouldn’t get college credit from it, but it’s still a fun way to get started on programming.  The courses are seven weeks, both with a final exam that you have a week to complete.  Better hurry, registration ends on Friday, I think!
